Clarity about Code changes

Hi, although it's mentioned in the overview, but i would appreciate a bit more clarity. Are we not allowed to touch the currently written code at all? like the frontend as well as the backend? Apart from the agentic changes that we'll be making can we add more microservices? Thanks.

    Hi Dhruv,

I've reached out to the Google team and the goal of the exercise is to see how an existing app can benefit from agentic feature being added to it. For acheiving that, if you need to minimally modify the UI (so the agents can be triggered) or some of the backend to integrate the agent in the system, that is ok. We don't want people to create a completely different microservice application but improve the ones listed in the hackathon to try and simulate a real world scenario where you are asked to We believe creativity thrives in constraints.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

    Hi Anush,

Can you be more specific? I'm not sure I understand your question. Thanks!

I’m working on solving a specific pain point that stores face, which requires me to extend the site slightly. I’d like to know if it’s possible to add a few custom elements—such as a button on existing pages—and also create 2–3 new pages to visually demonstrate aspects of the solution.

To clarify, the UI changes themselves aren’t the core solution, but rather a way to make it easier to showcase how everything works. In addition, I’d like to adjust some of the products displayed on the site so they fall into a single category (for example, showing only different loafers or different sunglasses), instead of the current mixed assortment.

    Hi Anush,

I'll pass this along to the Google team and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
